Oahe Dam spillway dry for now

The emergency spillway gates at Oahe Dam stand dry this winter, at least as of Friday. In summer 2011, the Missouri River reservoir was so full that water lapped at the tops of the gates and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers had to resort to flooding downstream areas with huge releases. Oahe is currently down about 25 feet from 18 months ago.
