Rick Schutt anchors WSBT 22 News at 5, 5:30, 6 and 11. He also anchors WSBT 22 News at 10 on SBT 2.
Rick covered all the major stories in the area from 1996-2007 while at WSJV-TV. He lists the leasing of the Toll Road, the time change in Indiana, the end of one-class basketball in the Hoosier State, and all the great Notre Dame teams as some of the more memorable stories he's reported on. He's also proud of the volunteering he did, helping numerous charities in Michiana over the years.
After a few years in Central Illinois, Rick knew Michiana was the place he wanted to come back to.
"The opportunity to work at such a respected news organization (WSBT 22) with so many talented people was too good to pass up," Rick said.
Rick has been honored several times during his career by the Associated Press, including a First Place Award for an investigative report on concussions in football. His career stops include working at TV stations in California, Georgia, Illinois, and, of course, Indiana. He's covered presidents, high-ranking politicians, pro athletes and local hometown sports stars. But it's people stories he truly enjoys the most.
"I've met so many interesting people in Michiana over the years, it's such a wonderful area."
Rick is originally from Wheaton, IL and when he isn't spending time with his wife, Christine, and his two kids, you'll probably find him getting re-acquainted with all of the great golf courses in Michiana.
