Meteorologist Cari Peugeot was born in Paducah, Kentucky. She became a Hoosier at 11, when her family moved to Fort Wayne. She is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington. Cari graduated with a degree in Geography/Meteorology and a minor in Telecommunications. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society.
Originally Cari was interested in climatology, but she found her niche in forecasting and television instead. After graduating, she worked at WPBN/WTOM-TV in Traverse City, Michigan where she was the weekend meteorologist.
“I learned right off the bat about the crazy phenomenon of lake effect snow. Being surrounded by the Great Lakes, anytime the wind blows we got snow up there. It's known as one of the hardest areas to forecast.”
Cari moved to South Bend to be closer to family and friends. She comes from a Big Ten family and spends much of the fall and winter watching Big Ten football and basketball. Her brother is a Purdue graduate and her sister is an Ohio State graduate, which makes for some interesting rivalries.
She also enjoys going to the beaches on Lake Michigan in the summer, skiing in the winter and her newest hobby is cooking (and eating). Of course, her favorite will always be the weather in all conditions. “It’s my job and a hobby.”
