Haymond Burton Jr., 19, is on home detention after serving two and half years in adult facilities, pretrial jail and five different prisons on a second-degree assault conviction. He was charged as an adult for attempted murder and handgun violations as required by <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100100600000000" title="Maryland" href="/topic/us/maryland-PLGEO100100600000000.topic">Maryland</a> law. His assault conviction should have left him in the juvenile system if not for the law requirement.
