If you’ve enjoyed using the Point Inside app for Android and iPhone to find maps of local malls and airports throughout the country, you may want to check out the new version: Point Inside Shopping & Travel 3.0.
For those who love to shop in South Florida, the new amped-up app version will be much more interactive, allowing shoppers to view deals superimposed on maps of stores within the malls. And yes, you still call up maps of the entire mall, to find the locations of retailers, restaurants or a bathroom. The Android version should be out Tuesday, later this year for iPhone. And theme park visitors will enjoy the addition of them parks located across Florida and the country.

Android App: MyFlare dials 911, tracks your location via GPS, sends video of your situation
When you’re in serious trouble, your smartphone could be a lifesaver with the new Android application MyFlare, capable of dialing 911 with a push of button and sending text and email alerts to friends and family, even video recordings of what is happening to you at any given moment.
MyFlare turns your Android phone into an advanced emergency response system that alerts authorities and others and lets them know where you are and what is happening when you can’t accomplish any of that on your own. The concept is powerful when you consider how quickly a threat, assault or worse can suddenly confront you while out in public or even at home.
MyFlare is available at Android Market for a one-time fee of $2.49. It was designed by a Miami-based company also called MyFlare and was released last month. The iPhone version is expected to be released later this month. We may also see a Spanish version soon and a Blackberry version in late November.
Features:
Calls 911 or your designated non-911 emergency contact
Automatically text messages and emails up to 10 of your pre-selected contacts a customized distress message, along with your GPS location.
Delivers your text and email messages every three minutes to your pre-selected contacts with your updated GPS location.
Sends 20-second video recordings capturing your present environment (optional), which are attached to the delivered e-mails every few minutes as determined by the user.
Blasts a police siren (optional).
