SOUTH BEND – A donation to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana on Wednesday will offer fresh food to those in need this holiday season.

Aunt Millie's Bakery donated 2,400 loaves of bread.

It's part of an effort the Fort Wayne-based bakery started in 2009.

This year Aunt Millie's will donate more than 64,000 loaves of bread across the Midwest.

“This is something we really look forward to every year,” said Aunt Millie’s Branch Manager Tom Rockhill. “This is a way to give back to the community that has certainly supported us over the year.”

The 2,400 loaves of bread for the food bank will make an estimated 26,000 sandwiches.

In four years, the program has donated 245,000 loaves of bread.
