ELKHART – New jobs could be coming for a musical instrument maker in Elkhart.
The Conn-Selmer company is looking to expand.
Monday night, the Elkhart City Council was to consider a tax abatement request made by the company.
It could end up meaning 23 new jobs.
Average pay for those new jobs is about $16 an hour, well below the average Conn-Selmer was paying before a year-long strike in 2008 and ’09 that led to the end of the union there.
A final decision on the tax abatement isn't expected for 2 weeks.
