Did you remember to get something for your Valentine? Or did you have to spend the night in the doghouse?
Tricia Wainscott, manager of Kilwin's at Eddy Street Commons, saw plenty of last minute shoppers Thursday. But despite this being the store's third Valentine's Day she says business was the same as past years.
The National Retail Federation says that's the case for many places this year. According to a survey, this year the average person spends about $131 on their sweetie. That's an increase of only about $5 from last year. But it's still the biggest day of the year for Kilwin's.The National Retail Federation estimates that Americans older than 18 will spend $18.6 billion this Valentine's Day. The survey also says men spend nearly $100 more on gifts than women.
