We all know Friday is going to be a huge shopping day, but there are plenty of things you should not shop for on Black Friday.
There are five items to avoid, according to the researchers at DealNews.com.
The first thing to avoid buying on Black Friday is toys, because it is not the cheapest time.
“We tracked some of the most popular toys from last year to see when they hit their lowest price of the holiday season, and pretty consistently it was during the 2-week period before Christmas,” said Lindsay Sakraida, features director at DealNews.com. “So that's when you should buy toys, December 10 through the 24.
Black Friday is also an excellent time to buy a big TV at a big discount. However, like the low price, they are often low quality with few features.
So avoid the temptation or you might go home with a letdown. Name brands will go on sale for great deals too, if you have a little patience.
The third thing to avoid on Black Friday is Christmas decorations. Instead, you can get fantastic deals right after Black Friday.
On Cyber Monday there are a ton of deals on decorations, and they just keeps getting cheaper, the closer you get to Christmas.
The fourth thing to avoid purchasing on Black Friday is jewelry, because demand is so great.
“The best time to buy jewelry is when there is not a special occasion,” said Sakraida. “The highest prices tend to be around Christmas, Valentine's Day and Mother’s Day.
The fifth item not to buy is winter apparel. Besides on this years’ Black Friday, it will not even feel like winter. The high should be around 60 degrees. So, if you are not buying winter gear for a present, wait until after Christmas. After all, our coolest month is not until January.
