More than 850 Hostess employees could lose their jobs.
The Twinkie maker said in a letter, posted to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, that it would be forced to lay off at least 856 employees if the company can't emerge from Chapter 11 reorganization.
Workers in 21 Indiana cities would be affected. Hostess Brands employs more than 300 employees in Indianapolis alone. Other affected locations could include Anderson, Bloomington, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Greenwood and Kokomo, among others.
The company filed for bankruptcy reorganization back in January. It has continued to fight with its labor unions for the last several months. Threats of a strike could dismantle the company's plan to emerge from bankruptcy.
