A new poll released Thursday showed Richard Lugar leading challenger Richard Mourdock in the Senate race.
The poll also looked at the governor's race and Republican presidential primary.
The Howey Politics Indiana-DePauw University Indiana Battleground Poll found Senator Lugar, R-Indianapolis, has a 7-point lead on the two-term state treasurer.
However, in her analysis, pollster Christine Matthews said whether Lugar wins could depend on the number of Democrats who switch parties for the primary.
If lugar wins the primary he would get 50 percent of the November vote. The only Democrat in the Senate race, Joe Donnelly, would get about 29 percent.
If Mourdock wins the primary, the poll showed the race against Donnelly is tied at 35 percent in November.
In the governor's race, Republican Mike Pence is easily beating Democrat John Gregg 44 to 31 percent.
The pollster said the numbers show Indiana is more conservative than any other non-southern state. Additionally, other than Iowa, Indiana has more evangelical Christians than other non-southern state.
