Colbie Caillat

North Central College's Sesquicentennial Homecoming Weekend concert schedule originally had Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo on the docket. Instead, vocalist and guitarist Colbie Caillat will play a solo acoustic show, and that's fine with us. Caillat should be in her element, having performed for this year's NFL season opener and at the 2010 baseball All-Star Game. And since Caillat's 2007 debut single, "Bubbly," she has been making a name for herself in other circles by performing with artists including Jason Mraz, Taylor Swift and Common.

Why go: Caillat has made troubadours trendy in this digital age.
