( December 20, 2012 ) Nussbaum, 89 years old this month, did not originate the role of Sigmund Freud in this commercial transfer of an off-Broadway play about the psychologist's relationship with C. S. Lewis. But he lobbied hard to replace the original New York star and he won out, especially since the producers figured out that Nussbaum has his own following at the box office. His performance, predictably a stunner, was precise, richly detailed, unsentimental and thoroughly fearless. |
