The switch to DTV: why and when?

Tools

By (BI) Susanna Daniel

Everyone does. By law, television stations must switch to DTV at 11:59:59 on
February 17, 2009, in order to “free up” the analog broadcast spectrum for other uses (including
police and firefighter communications and advanced wireless services). On that day, WSBT must
turn off its analog signal. If you subscribe to cable or satellite, you will still be able to watch your
analog TV, but if you rely on an over-the-air signal, you’ll have to switch to DTV or lose access to
your favorite shows on WSBT and elsewhere. You don’t want that to happen, and neither do we!
