What is DTV?

Tools

By (BI) Susanna Daniel

DTV is a ground-breaking new broad-casting technology that enables TV stations to provide dramatically clearer pictures and better sound. And besides looking and sounding better, DTV allows stations to “multicast,” or show multiple channels simultaneously. Today at WSBT-TV we broadcast our traditional “analog” channel, but we also broadcast three digital channels: WSBT-DT; SBT2;
and the WSBT StormTracker Channel.

WSBT-DT (digital channel 22.1) is a DTV version of WSBT-TV. (Just wait until you see your favorite prime time drama in DTV, or the Super Bowl!) SBT2 (22.2) features a smorgasbord of entertainment and information, including prime time airings of Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Phil, along with WSBT NEWS at 10. Our latest DTV addition is the WSBT StormTracker Channel (22.3), which gives viewers non-stop access to local forecast and local conditions from WSBT-TV’s own team of meteorologists.
