INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The first Stone Temple Pilots concert tour in almost eight years will include a performance at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 23, two days before the Indianapolis 500.

The Grammy-winning rock band split five years ago but this month announced a 65-city North American reunion tour, which starts May 17 in Columbus, Ohio.

Guitarist Dean DeLeo said the band plans to record a new album after the tour, which is set to end in November. Formed in 1992, the band has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide.

The Indianapolis appearance will be on Carburetion Day, the last practice session before the race. The concert will be on the stage behind the infield Hall of Fame Museum and will be free with the $10 admission to the Speedway grounds for the day.

Other groups scheduled to perform at the track during the month include Chevelle, The Bravery, DJ Orion, Ludo, Yellowcard, Psychodots, Forever the sickest Kids, OK Go, Sum 41, Jon McLaughlin and Jack's Mannequin.
