Magna Fortuna - Taxi to his friends - is a 3-year-old dark bay gelding who begins his racing career in earnest this month when Hawthorne Race Course begins its spring meeting. Without question, he was the longest of long shots to get where he is. How long? He should be dead. Taxi's mother was rescued from a slaughter kill pen, not knowing at the time by the rescue organization that she was expecting a foal. Taxi was born several months later on tax day, April 15th.
