Pa. man 'armed' with pit bull during robbery

GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) — State police say a western Pennsylvania man used a pit bull to threaten a man he robbed as the victim left a restaurant.

Forty-three-year-old James Hassinger, of Jeannette, remains in the Westmoreland County Prison Monday on charges including robbery and terroristic threats.

Police say Hassinger demanded $100 from the victim or said he'd order the dog to attack. The man didn't have any money, so police say Hassinger forced him to drive to an automatic teller machine to get the money.

Police say Hassinger accosted a man as he left Isaac's Ale House on Route 30 in Hempfield Township, about 1 a.m. Friday. The restaurant is about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Police say Hassinger bought crack cocaine with the money. Online court records don't list an attorney for him.
