Event Description

The Center for History and Studebaker National Museum are teaming up to present an exhibit to
commemorate the 200th anniversary of Lincoln’s birthday. Learn about Lincoln’s boyhood in Indiana, his
connections to Indiana as an adult, Indiana’s reactions to his years as America’s President and the
funeral train which brought his body through Indiana on the way to his final resting place. A plaster
replica of an 1860 Volk casting of Lincoln’s face and hands offer a striking visual of America’s sixteenth
president. An exact replica of Lincoln's coffin, on loan from the Batesville Casket Company, is on view.
In the area that explores Lincoln's Hoosier boyhood, visitors can see an original wooden cabinet made
by Lincoln's father. Original mourning ribbons help tell the story of the nation's grief after the fateful night
Lincoln was assassinated. The newly-conserved Lincoln Presidential Carriage is featured with the story
of Lincoln's assassination.
