Team fights for championship while coach fights cancer

An Indiana team will try to win sectionals Friday, but their coach will be sidelined for chemotherapy.

Franklin Central High School basketball coach Pam Taylor says she's fighting to beat breast cancer, just like her team is fighting for a championship.

She had lumpectomy surgery in November and thought the worst was behind her, then had a double mastectomy in December.

Now she's starting chemotherapy and her team is right by her side.

“She wants to be here so badly, but she knows that she's not going to be well enough and she just starts crying and you just can't help to start to cry with her,” said Kelle Smith of her coach.

“My surgeon told me what I had was aggressive,” said Taylor.

Before Coach Taylor found out she had cancer, she walked in the Susan G. Komen 'Race For The Cure.'

She'll still be getting chemo, but plans to walk it again this April, along with her players.
