New treadmill desk lets you walk while you work

(CNN) Imagine getting a workout and getting in shape, all while on the job. That's what the makers of a new walking station desk had in mind. It’s a work station that allows an office worker to use a computer while walking on a treadmill.

It's a busy day at the office for Terri Weller. Calculating, keying in data, making calls — and she does it all standing up … sort of.

"It's a walking station, is what it is,” she explained. "This ran about $3,800.”

And that's just for the treadmill and desk.

"I had to recycle the computer,” she said.

Oh well, multi-tasking is what matters.

It takes time to get used to walking and working at the same time. One thing Terri couldn't get used to was the clippity-clop of her shoes against the treadmill. At 5 - 6 miles per day, Terri needed sensible shoes anyway.

"The guys were teasing me saying they're going to check and see how many dents are in the filing cabinet behind me when I forget that I'm on it, and slip off and go backwards,” she laughed.

Terri's only had her workstation for about a month, so those cabinets are scuff-free … at least for now.

She hasn't lost any weight yet, but she feels like her clothes fit more comfortably.
