Experts fear mosquito problems after Indiana floods

Tools

(CBS) The heavy June rains caused extensive damage and problems for Hoosiers and now experts fear another big problem in the months to come.

So far this season, mosquito complaints to the Marion County Health Department have tripled. They received 150 calls this week alone about the problem.

But what about the West Nile Virus this year? At this point there have not been any indications that the West Nile Virus is at an extremely high level.

But as summer wears on that could change. A few 90 degree days and some humidity could make the problem even worse.

The health department says the best way to get rid of mosquitoes is to kill them before they hatch.

Also, it is smart to get rid of the standing water in gutters, bird baths, old tires, small pools and ponds where pests can breed.
