Michigan man runs 170 miles to fight breast cancer

NORTON SHORES, Mich. (AP) — A Michigan man ran 170 miles across the state over the weekend to raise awareness and money to support the fight against breast cancer.

The Muskegon Chronicle reports Mark Paulson completed the 71-hour trek Sunday afternoon when he arrived in his native Norton Shores, along Lake Michigan.

The run was of personal significance to Paulson. His grandmother suffered from breast cancer, and his mother survived it.

As of Sunday night, Paulson had raised $1,500 in donations for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

He slept about six hours a night during his journey, which kicked off on Thursday.

The 41-year-old Paulson now lives in Oakland County's White Lake Township.
