Now through September 2010, free child safety seat inspections will be provided at the Goshen Police Department, 111 E. Jefferson St.

Those wanting inspections can stop in at the department between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or call (574) 533-8661 to schedule an appointment.

For those with limited financial resources, the department also provides new child safety seats to first-time families or replacement seats.

Goshen Police are offering the inspections and seats in conjunction with the Automotive Safety Program, Riley Hospital for Children, Indiana University School of Medicine and the Governor’s Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving.

Indiana state law requires children ages 8 and younger use child safety seats in vehicles.
