To help Spanish-speaking Elkhart County community members learn about and prepare for H1N1, local health-care professionals will offer a free education program on the virus.

Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart County Health Department and Heart City Health Center will offer the program from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Elkhart General Health Education Center, 2222 Rieth Blvd., Goshen.

A panel of experts will present information on a host of H1N1-related topics, including an updated overview of the virus, details on what Elkhart County might expect for flu activity, practical tips on what residents should do if they experience symptoms, how H1N1 is transmitted and vaccine recommendations.

There will be time for questions and answers, and everyone in attendance will receive a resource gift bag to help protect themselves and their families from H1N1.

Reservations are not necessary. For more information, contact Dame Tu Mano at (574) 524-7517, or visit www.egh.org. The event will be conducted in Spanish only.
