The economy has a lot of us preoccupied these days. But that should not come at the expense of your health. We want to remind you, as we do on or near the 22nd of every month, to do your monthly breast self-exam.

It's just a matter of setting up the appointment. And these days even better technology can come to you. Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center's Mobile Medical Unit is back on the road.

It was out of service for eight weeks so it could be upgraded with the latest digital mammography technology.

Digital mammograms give a better picture of the breast. But you have to take the time to get one.

"I think what's really important is that women remember to get their mammograms, to take care of themselves,” said Patty Neitch of SJRMC. “With the economic situation that we're in right now, many times women forget to take care of themselves. They're taking care of their families."

You can call Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center to schedule an appointment for a mammogram with the Mobile Medical Unit.

We've partnered with Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center to bring you the Pink Pack and monthly reminders to do your breast self-exam because early detection saves lives.

Here's how it works:

You pick a friend to be your Pink Pack Pal. Then you request a Pink Pack.

You'll get a breast self-exam guide, a pen and a kitchen magnet — one for you and one for your Pink Pack Pal. We'll remind you on the 22nd of every month to call your Pink Pal and remind her to do her breast self-exam. And remember to do yours the same day. Early detection saves lives.

Become a member of the Pink Pack right away — it could save a life.
