SOUTH BEND - A new shipment of H1N1 vaccine has arrived in St. Joseph County, according to a release sent by the health department.

The limited amount of the flu shots and nasal spray is being distributed at health department offices in South Bend and Mishawaka.

Health officials remind residents that demand for the vaccine is greater than the supply received, but additional shipments are expected in the coming weeks.

The H1N1 flu shot is recommended for: pregnant women, those who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months, health care and emergency medical personnel, and anyone from 6 months through 24 years of age. People between the ages of 25 and 64 years with certain chronic medical conditions or a weakened immune system are also included in the priority group.

The H1N1 FluMist is recommended for healthy, non-pregnant people who are between 2 and 24 years of age, live with or care for infants younger than 6 months, and health care workers.
