Hundreds of elementary students will be going back to class for the first time since a devastating tornado ripped their community and school apart.
School representatives told Fox59 approximately 700 students will attend classes in the New Albany building between now and the end of the year.
To add a sense of normalcy to day-to-day life, students will ride buses and be picked up from their regular bus stops at normal times.
Students will then be transported to the Community Center in Henryville, where volunteers will take them to school at Graceland.
Teachers and staff have been working side by side with volunteers to get the school ready for Wednesday class.
School district leaders said they are thrilled the community has come together to get students back in class so quickly.
The Henryville Junior Senior High School was destroyed in the March 2 tornado. Classes will resume for those students April 2 at an office park in Scottsburg, Ind.
