Three people were arrested and another seriously injured after a high-speed police chase ended in a crash on the city's northwest side Tuesday.

It happened on Interstate 465 near the 71st Street exit shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Police said an off-duty officer saw an SUV swerving wrecklessly, coming close to hitting several children near 86th and Harcourt. When police tried to pull the driver over, she reportedly sped off. Authorities said, at one point, the police chase reached speeds up to 95 mph.

The suspects' vehicle collided with another car on I-465. The person in that vehicle was temporarily trapped and was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Two women inside the SUV were arrested. A third person, who knew the women involved, began filming the scene. Police said he caused a commotion and placed him under arrest.

Police have seized electronic equipment out of the suspects' SUV. It's not clear what role, if any, those items played in the incident.

The investigation shut down several lanes of traffic on I-465 during rush hour, but everything has since been reopened.

No names have been released yet.
