Police officer, two others injured in crash

Avon, Indiana

A woman was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital after her car collided with a police cruiser in Avon.

Police say two officers were investigating an armed robbery in Avon when they got a call about another armed robbery in progress in Brownsburg. The suspects matched the same description.

On the way there, Officer Tom Owen's K-9 unit vehicle crashed into a woman's car on North State Road 267 and County Road 151 North.

The woman had to be airlifted to Methodist Hospital at IU Health. A man riding in her car was also hurt.

A K-9 officer was in the car with Officer Owens during the crash. A veterinarian said the dog appeared to be fine.
