Pedestrian killed in accident on Bypass

By Tiffany Griffin

(WSBT) A deadly accident shut down the eastbound lanes of the Bypass for several hours Sunday morning. It happened about a little less than a mile west of U.S. 31.

Witnesses say 27-year-old Danielle Jones of North Liberty was standing on the side of the highway with her stopped vehicle when she and the car were hit by an east-bound pick-up truck.

She was killed instantly.

St. Joseph County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT) is investigating the accident and awaiting toxicology results of both the driver and passenger of the pick-up truck, identified as Victor Pellico and Frank Karaka, both of South Bend.
