Trial date set in fatal hit-and-run on Bypass

(SBT24/7News) A man charged with failing to stop at the scene of a fatal crash on the St. Joseph Valley Parkway received an April 28 trial date Monday.

Victor Pellico III, 38, of South Bend, also received a plea deadline date of March 17 from St. Joseph Superior Court Judge John Marnocha.

Pellico is accused of running away after his pickup truck hit a woman who was standing outside her vehicle parked on the side of the road early Nov. 18.

The victim was Danielle Jones, 28, of North Liberty.

Pellico, who was arrested about a fourth of a mile from the crash scene, also is charged with a misdemeanor count of driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.15 percent.
