Board Rejects Parlak's Appeal

Ibrahim Parlak emerges from federal custody, June 3, 2005.

By Jerry Siefring

(WSBT/AP) An immigration official says a Kurdish immigrant whom the federal government is trying to deport on terrorism charges has lost an appeal of his deportation order.

Ibrahim Parlak had filed the appeal with the U.S. Department of Justice's Board of Immigration Appeals.

Greg Palmore of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security didn't immediately have more information about the ruling.

The 43-year-old Parlak owns a Middle Eastern-themed restaurant in the small Berrien County town of Harbert.

He earlier said he would take his case to the federal courts if he lost his appeal before the board.
