(WSBT) Another Michiana county is considering a smoking ban, less than two weeks after St. Joseph County’s went into effect.

Elkhart County officials are talking about the ban, but want to make sure Elkhart and Goshen are okay with it before moving forward.

Local people are divided on the issue.

“I am definitely in favor of a smoking ban in public places,” Chuck Ornduff of Elkhart told NEWS22.

“I smoke, my wife smokes, we don’t force it on anybody,” said Tim Miller of Elkhart. “But we have just as much right to smoke, as people with the right not to smoke.”

The mayors of Elkhart and Goshen are working on smoking ban resolutions. They will turn them over to County Council members for consideration.
