(WSBT) Police have issued an Amber Alert for a missing Pulaski County teenager.

Right now, investigators have someone they call a person of interest in custody, but as of Wednesday evening the 16-year-old girl was still missing.

Stephanie Wagner was last seen leaving work at the same time as her 51-year-old co-worker; that is the man police have in custody for questioning in the case.

Wagner’s parents reported her missing when she didn't come home last night. Early this morning they found her car abandoned on the side of the road a few miles from her home.

They also found her personal belongings on the ground about 30 feet away. That person of interest came to work this morning and was taken into custody by police.

They say he has not been arrested and police say they have no reason to believe he will be at this point. Co-workers say they don’t know anything.

“[He was] a very quiet polite pleasant man, from whatever I seen,” said Renee Heim, who worked with both. “I didn’t know her very, very well, but no she was very quiet wasn’t an out-, you know, most a lotta waitresses are outspoken and you know she was a little more on the quiet side.”

“Combined with the fact that she’s gone, that’s not her usual character, she’s not known by the local authorities here as a runaway, and being with the indication of her articles being found approximately 30 feet from the vehicle leads us to believe she might be in some danger,” said Sgt. Tony Slocum of the Indiana State Police “Foul play might have been afoot.”

Stephanie Wagner is described as 5’3” tall and 109 pounds. She has shoulder-length brownish blonde hair. And was last seen wearing a white shirt, black pants, and pink tennis shoes.

Police say that person of interest was driving that truck last night and they can’t find it but coworkers say he was not driving a blue truck last night so there are still some questions to be answered in the investigation.
