Boy’s Remains Not Buried 11 Months After Their Discovery

(AP) Nearly 11 months after Ricky Holland’s body was pulled from an icy marsh, the Williamston boy has yet to be buried because of legal complications.

One problem is deciding who can make decisions about funeral arrangements and the handling of Ricky’s body.

Normally that responsibility would go to the parents -- but Tim and Lisa Holland were sentenced for murder last month in Ricky’s 2005 death.

A second problem is the autopsy. Medical examiners were unable to determine Ricky’s cause of death.

Ingham County prosecutors want the remains preserved because Ricky’s adoptive mother is appealing her conviction.
