(WSBT) David Snyder turned himself in to the St. Joseph County Jail on Thursday. He was later released on $500 bond.

He will appear in court Friday, facing intimidation charges. Snyder is charged with felony intimidation and misdemeanor battery. It stems from a fight with council member Ted Penn at Roseland Town Hall last Friday.

David Snyder was all smiles as he turned himself in, but his wife had harsh words for Ted Penn.

"What that man does is very bizarre. I don't want to talk about that man," she said.

She also didn't spare St. Joseph County Prosecutor Michael Dvorak.

"When the defendent is a Snyder, he seems to come down 10 times as hard."

She also ruled out any notion her husband would resign.

"That's a stretch. This man was elected to public office. If that's what Ted Penn is trying to do, that's not going to work."

Penn has asked prosecutors to file a motion to keep Snyder away from him.

Since both are town council members, that could create a sticky situation.

Restraining order aside, council president Charley Shields says he can't sanction Snyder.

"There's no action that I'm authorized to take in regard to this matter. Any action I would take would be in regard to his actions at the meeting and I don't anticipate having any problem," Shields told WSBT News.

There is a claims meeting Friday and a regular council meeting on Monday.

Both Snyder and Penn are expected to be there.
