(WSBT) A South Bend teenager has admitted his role in the death of a South Bend Police officer last year.

19-year-old Mijell Redding pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted robbery. He also faced murder charges, but reached a plea agreement. Now he'll testify against Jeff Finley, the accused shooter in the case.

Investigators say the two were trying to rob off duty officer Scott Severns. When Cpl. Severns pulled his gun, Finley shot him.

Finley will head to trial on May 21st.
