'Monologues' to be performed off ND campus

(WSBT/AP) A controversial play avoided being banned from Notre Dame, but it still won't be performed on campus.

Last year, President John Jenkins refused to ban "The Vagina Monologues" because he said universities should be places where debate is promoted. But this year, student organizers couldn't get a university faculty member to sponsor the play.

Instead, "The Vagina Monologues" will be performed this spring off campus, at the First Unitarian Church in South Bend.

All proceeds will benefit the YMCA of St. Joseph County.
