(AP) Private funeral services for slain 7-year-old Ricky Holland must be held within 45 days under a deal approved Friday by a judge.

Ingham County Probate Judge George Economy gave custody of the boy's remains to the county's medical examiner, but the families of Ricky's adoptive parents — who are in prison for his death — will be allowed to have private memorial services honoring him.

''We may at last bring some rest to this young man,'' Economy said. ''Everybody wants to see Ricky come to his final peace and rest.''

It has been nearly 15 months since the Williamston boy's skeletal remains were pulled from a marsh area.

Tim Holland, 38, last year pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to between 30 and 60 years. He said Lisa Holland, 34, struck Ricky in the head with a hammer and he later dumped the body in a rural game area. Tim Holland led authorities to the body in January 2006, but legal complications held up Ricky's burial.
