Police Hunting Mora More Than A Week After Shootings

By Michael Guilmette

(WSBT) Police are looking for Omar Mora. They say he shot and killed his wife and a gas station manager in Warsaw last Wednesday.

Police say they got a lot of tips last week, but they're getting few, if any, right now.

They searched by helicopter, saying they were looking to see whether Mora dumped his black pick-up truck in some of the more remote areas of the county.

Police also searched for signs of the possibility Mora may have committed suicide. They found nothing, and the search continues.

Last week, tips poured into the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department. Now, they're few and far between.

So, the department turned to America's Most Wanted for help.

Both Omar and Lisa Mora’s picture are prominently featured on their Web site, but that also has yielded few leads.

“Law enforcement officers from surrounding counties as well all of our officers from our agency within this county have put a lot of hours and stuff in and it's actually just come to basically a halt at this point and time until we receive other information to go on,” said Sgt. Chad Hill of the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.

Lisa Mora’s family turned over Omar’s green card and passport to police. They found it in a safe inside the Mora’s home. Police believe Mora may have relatives in Chicago or Mexico.

“But of course, if he was going to be trying to get into Mexico, he would probably try to get smuggled in and if he had a passport left behind, he probably wouldn't try to go through customs anyway, he would have been red-flagged by NCIC,” Hill said.

More than a week later, the people in the neighborhood say they are saddened by what happened and hope Omar Mora will be caught soon. Police hope word of mouth will help them catch Mora.

“That's the really only thing we can actually encourage people to do at this point in time is just contact law enforcement if they have any type of idea or speculation where he might of went and where he might be held up,” Hill added.

Omar Mora is 31 years old, 5'7”, 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police say he was driving a 2003 Chevy Silverado with Indiana plates, 5181T.

The truck has a silver color side trim guard and a black, hard-style flat bed cover.

There's a chance this case could get a mention on America's Most Wanted Saturday, but nothing has been decided.
