GRANGER — There will be a public meeting Tuesday night to discuss the possibility of Granger becoming incorporated.

If Granger became a town it would be responsible for its own sewage, water, street lighting and street maintenance.

It would also have its own police and fire department.

Many people who live in the area say they are not surprised incorporation is now an option.

"With our fire department getting bigger and the tax base what it is, I just thought it was a matter of time," said Randy Hoefle, who has lived in Granger his entire life.

"I would say I'm for it," Gale Paldino told WSBT News. "It's going on in all the outside regions of the area — the outskirts of the old Granger, as it existed, being incorporated by Mishawaka — so I guess it's time Granger incorporated so we can see some more benefits for this area. Especially for people who have lived here a long time and see the things that are going on."

Tuesday ngiht's meeting is at 6:30 at the Mary Frank Elementary School.

The public is encouraged to attend.
