(WSBT) Elkhart fire investigators were on the scene of a fire at the Tres Mil Pas grocery store on Main St., which used to be Wally’s Supervalue City Market.

The fire started around 3 a.m. Thursday and took a number of hours to put out.

Just next door in the same building around the same time Wednesday morning, investigators say a fire started in a separate business that was undergoing renovation.

Investigators tell WSBT News that the Tres Mil Pas did have fire code violations, and that a sprinkler system would have helped put out this fire, but the business did not have one.

Firefighters say no one was hurt in the fire.

Another fire broke out around 1 a.m. Thursday at Mi Tierra, a market and catering business, located at 525 Harrison Street.

Firefighters had that fire under control quickly.
