(SBT24/7News) Roseland Town Council member David Snyder was ordered back to jail Monday morning for not following a magistrate’s order to obtain work and make regular child support payments.

Magistrate Rochelle Cotter ordered Snyder to serve the 45 days remaining on his sentence based on her finding in July that he was in contempt of court.

She imposed the sentence after hearing Snyder had made only one job application and paid less than $400 toward his child support since Aug. 1. The order is $1,800 a month.

In July, Cotter imposed a 90-day contempt sentence and ordered Snyder to serve half of it or pay $10,400 or 10 percent of the amount he owed. He paid that amount the same day.

At that time, Cotter ordered Snyder to obtain a job and make regular payments on his child support for his two sons in Texas.

Today Cotter imposed the 45 days she had suspended July 30. Snyder can be released early if he pays $20,800 to purge himself of the contempt.
