More than a dozen puppy mill dogs adopted out on Saturday

18 dogs were adopted out at Pet Refuge on Saturday.

By WSBT News1

A long journey home came to an end Saturday for nearly two dozen dogs. Pet Refuge in Mishawaka held an adoption event for some of the dogs they received earlier this month after a puppy mill raid downstate.

Those adopting them filled out an application, were interviewed, and now they have to wait 48 hours before they can take their dog home.

Pet Refuge board member Pam Comer says the dogs did most of the work finding new homes.

"Business has been very good today, the community has really embraced this rescue and has stepped up and filled out applications and are here today to find that home for one of those puppy mill dogs."

Pet Refuge took 18 dogs to Saturday's event to be adopted. They will adopt the other 23 in the coming weeks.
