Police Release New Details in Double Homicide

By Beth Boehne

(WSBT) A man who police say shot and killed two people in Warsaw is still on the run.

Omar Mora is accused of killing his wife, Lisa, and Harpal Singh, a gas station owner.

Police say Mora and Singh were romantically involved.

Thursday police released the initial report from the shooting at Mora's home.

The police report and the 911 calls provide a much clearer insight into what happened on May 23.

"911. What's your emergency?”
“I am in the parking lot of First Source Bank on East Center Street. But there were shots fired I believe at Lane's Phillips 66."

At 5:11 p.m., dispatch received the first calls of the shooting at the gas station. That's where police believe Omar Mora shot Harpal Singh.

"It was about five shots.”
“Five shots?”
“As far as I could tell."

Minutes later, police say Mora got into a black pickup and drove to his home on Vickery Lane.

The police report says Lisa Mora's mother ran from the house to tell a neighbor what happened. He called 911.

"911.”
“In Warsaw, somebody just killed somebody across the street."

It took a moment for the dispatcher to realize this was a completely separate shooting.

Meanwhile, Mora's mother was crying in the background.

"The boy's over there? … There's a little kid over there!"
"I'm trying to get officers there, OK?"

The neighbor then ran across the street to get both of Mora's sons. He called out to Lisa Mora and got no response.

"Lisa, come here, come on kids, come on. Come on. Come on."

Police say after he shot both people Omar Mora went on the run, and they haven't been able to catch up with him since.

Police say the lack of local tips leads them to believe Mora either committed suicide or fled the country.

“He's being hid amongst other family and friends, whether it be here or back home in Mexico, where his parents are actually at and where he's originally from,” said Sgt. Chad Hill of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

The U.S. Marshals reached out to Mexican media to spread the word about the shootings and the $10,000 family reward in Mora's hometown.

But still no tips.

Police say this investigation has been very frustrating and they are still concerned about the family's safety.
