Troy Kehoe

By Jerry Siefring

Troy Kehoe began reporting for WSBT News in December 2006 after spending most of his life next door in the Land of Lincoln, and is excited to call the Hoosier State his new home!

Born and raised near Chicago, Troy most recently worked at WREX-TV in Rockford as a weekend anchor, reporter, and producer for four years. Prior to that, he was employed as a part-time reporter, producer, and editor at WEEK-TV in Peoria, while earning his degree in Broadcast Journalism from Bradley University. Troy also attended American Intercontinental University in London, England, where he studied documentary film and held a reporting and editing internship at NBC News’ London Bureau.

Today, you can see Troy's reports on WSBT News at 5, 6 and 11.  As a general assignment reporter, Troy covers news as it breaks.  You might see him at a city council meeting in South Bend, reporting from the Indiana Statehouse, or traveling across the state to speak with Hoosier voters.  Troy also recently traveled to Ft. Stewart in Georgia to report on the sendoff of Indiana's largest ever contingent of National Guardsmen.

Troy now also occasionally writes stories for the South Bend Tribune.

In 2009, Troy's special report on local speed traps was honored as Indiana's best enterprise story by the Associated Press.  The AP also recognized Troy as one of Indiana's best investigative reporters for helping to reveal hidden flaws in smoke detectors.

The Associated Press recognized Troy's reporting in 2008 as well, naming his undercover investigation with the South Bend Tribune on efforts to crack down on scrap metal thefts as one of Indiana's best investigative stories.

Troy is a certified volunteer firefighter and avid musician. He’s played the piano for more than 20 years, and participated in dozens of international music festivals and concerts in both North America and Europe as a vocalist!

In his free time, Troy enjoys reading, filmmaking, and rooting on his two favorite teams: the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears -- and he’s excited to cheer on the Irish from right here in Michiana as well!

Troy lives in South Bend.
