James Comer, Republican candidate for state agriculture commissioner, spoke to a crowd of about three dozen people in the conference room at Central Bank on North Main Street Thursday afternoon. Comer talked with supporters over lunch about his plans for the office, which would include a push for more jobs for the farming community and an opportunity to increase organic farming in Kentucky.
"I'm ready to be an active, informed and accessible agriculture commissioner," Comer said.
Other candidates will be campaigning in Jessamine County in the coming days prior to the election.
Republican gubernatorial running mates David Williams and Richie Farmer, will be campaigning at Mi Penquena Hacienda, 110 Cynthia Drive in Brannon Crossing on Monday, Oct. 31, at noon.
