(SBT24/7News) Police are investigating an apparent written threat against minority students at St. Joseph’s High School in South Bend.

According to Capt. Phil Trent, a custodian at the school discovered a written document that threatens a group of students.

"The threat is racially based against six African-American students who attend St. Joseph's High," Trent wrote in a press release.

The students and their parents have been made aware of the situation and have already met with school and police officials, Trent said.

School officials directed contact to Vince LaBarbera, a spokesman for the Diocese of Ft-Wayne-South Bend.

LaBarbera said Friday afternoon that the note was discovered earlier this week and was turned over to the police for investigation.

Any student or member of the community with knowledge of the identity of the individual(s) who authored this document are asked to call the SBPD Communications Center at (574) 235-9361 or Crime Stoppers at (574) 288-STOP.
