Budweiser Clydesdales Visit South Bend

By Beth Boehne

(WSBT) They're known around the world, and this week the Budweiser Clydesdales are in South Bend.

The eight horses will be harnessed and hitched to the famous red wagon.

On Friday, they'll be at Coveleski Stadium before the game.

On Saturday, they'll be in the College Football Hall of Fame parade.

A Budweiser Clydesdale is at least three years old, stands about six feet tall and weighs about 2,000 pounds.

A single horse will consume as much as 25 quarts of feed, 50 pounds of hay and 30 gallons of water a day.

“These guys are absolutely beautiful, well-trained … everybody needs to come out and see them, they are gorgeous,” said Laura Stoner of the Kensington Equestrian Club.

The Clydesdales will be kept at the Kensington Equestrian Club where the public can view them Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
